LIGHTING UP THE GEORGIA SKY

State-of-the-art assembly-line cleaning process
The Atlanta region is known for very active weather patterns where clouds stack up and appear out of nowhere and vicious electrical storms light up the Georgia sky. The lightning strikes are random and ruthless when they hit the roof of a home or industrial building—the damage is immediate. Fires break out causing both smoke and water damage. Just south of downtown Atlanta, Paul Davis Restoration serves the needs of South Atlanta and Central Georgia.
PUTTING TOGETHER THE TEAM

Efficiently moving contents baskets through the process
In 1996, Allen McHenry purchased the Paul Davis Restoration South Atlanta territory. Allen immediately put together a strong team including his son Mickey as General Manager and Doug Blount as the VP of Sales. Doug is a Georgia native who has been involved in the disaster restoration industry his entire life, estimating jobs at 13 years of age while working for his father .
THE OLD WAY OF CLEANING

Ready for repacking in minutes.
For years, Paul Davis Restoration used the industry standard for restoring damaged contents—cleaning each piece by hand, one piece at a time. As Doug explained, “We did everything the old way”. Using an array of Q-tips, rags, brushes and picks, PDR employed up to six people to slowly and methodically clean boxes of contents. It was not uncommon to take up to 1½ hours to clean a single box of contents. Many intricate items could not be restored at all and were total lossed by the insurance company.
CHOOSING OMEGASONICS

“I don‘t know how we survived without it. We are tickled. The equipment is just awesome. We absolutely love it!”

Once their cleaning process design was completed by Total Contentz, the PDR management team set out to investigate which restoration equipment they would purchase. After researching several vendors, PDR of South Atlanta chose the Omegasonics Restoration Pro® System. Doug said, “The equipment seemed more industrial and the value was exceptional. The decision was really a no-brainer”.
RESTORATION PRO® SYSTEM
The proven Assembly-Line Cleaning Process streamlined the cleaning and drying of contents at PDR to achieve dramatic productivity gains and profitability. Contents are unpacked, put into three (3) baskets and placed into the first stage 5200 Pre-Wash which creates a high volume agitation action to gently remove heavy areas of soot and contamination. After a few minutes, the baskets are moved to the 5224 Ultrasonic Wash for precision cleaning to remove the last remnants of soot and corrosion debris for even intricate surfaces. The baskets are next placed into the Rinse-Detail Station with clean flowing Reverse Osmosis water removing any soap residue and then fed into the 6900 Tunnel Dryer. The tunnel dryer uses continuous, down-draft, re-circulating hot air in an enclosed chamber to thoroughly dry contents in five (5) minutes or less. Contents are then ready for immediate repacking.
High value, sensitive electronic items that cannot be saturated in fluid are cleaned in the Restoration Pro® 2300E Electronic Cleaning Station. Using a small volume of de-ionized water, soap and pressurized air, surface soot is safely propelled from the delicate contents. The electronics are then placed into the Restoration Pro® 6500 Electronic Drying Chamber to complete the restoration process before final testing.
SAVING MONEY ALL THE WAY AROUND

Electronic Lead Rachael: “Takes just a minute to clean.”

Cleaning the model ship would not even be attempted without ultrasonics.
On PDR's first project armed with the Restoration Pro&erg; System, Doug and his team were able to save an insurance adjustor $35,000 on an assortment of delicate, extremely intricate figurines and hummels that were to be total lossed. Doug estimates, “It would have taken a month and a half to clean those boxes the old method, if we could have cleaned them at all. With our new equipment, we did the job in under one week.”
The restoration business has gone high tech and now the cleaning methods are high tech as well. With the Restoration Pro® System powered by Omegasonics, Paul Davis of Stockbridge has reduced their hand cleaning by 70% and reduced cash-outs by over 50%. “We have easily increased what we can salvage and have become a lot more profitable”, Doug said.
The benefits of the Restoration Pro® System go even further than just the bottom line increase in profits. “Our contents division is growing because we now have a way to market our services. What I would tell anyone in the restoration business is the equipment saves money, cleans better, faster and is a heck of a marketing tool!”
