Hot Air Dryers and Ultrasonic Cleaners

When ultrasonic waves are applied to objects, the objects must be immersed in a liquid bath in order for cavitation bubbles to form.

This bubbling action removes impurities and cleans the objects more thoroughly than any other method.

However, if the objects are water-absorbent, or simply contain a lot of complex surface area, water may be retained.

If allowed to dry at normal speeds, water may be retained, drying times are impractically long, and “water spots” caused by residual minerals may remain after the water has evaporated, due to slow evaporation. Omegasonics’ hot air dryers can achieve the optimal results you seek.

Omegasonics and Hot Air Dryers

Once items emerge from an ultrasonic cleaning unit, they still must be dried quickly to maintain their pristine state. Omegasonics’ hot air dryers, such as the Viking 6800, use a gentle updraft drying method that safely and quickly completes the job.

Air heated to the optimal temperature of 160°F flows from the bottom up and re-circulates around the parts until they are dry, providing an excellent and cost-effective solution to the problems of slow and imperfect drying of objects cleaned by ultrasonic waves in a cleansing bath.

Hot air dryers such as the Viking 6800 and the 6900TD (tunnel dryer), though an initially pricey investment, give a quick ROI due to their effect on cleaning turnaround time and quality of drying. Like ultrasonic cleaners, they require little training and supervision, freeing up workers to be utilized elsewhere and increasing overall production.

Our Hot Air Dryers Specifications

Omegasonics offers two models of hot air dryer. The 6800 comes in two sizes and features an up-draft recirculating hot air dryer with an 1100 CFM blower and 5700 watts heat.

Components consist of programmable digital temperature controls and a digital timer-controlled process time. It sports a Hammertone powder coated frame, hinged or sliding doors are available options, and its four locking swivel casters ensure portability. It comes with a 2-year guarantee.

The Omegasonics 6900TD (Tunnel Dryer) features many of the same specifications, with a few differences. For example, the doors are “guillotine style,” ensuring faster overall processing and drying times, and it consists of a conveyor belt which feeds the parts which need drying through automatically, increasing ROI and allowing personnel to be reassigned to other duties.

Hot air drying is part science and part art. It’s always a good idea to consult with a company that has experience with this type of parts drying before buying a unit for your own operation. In addition to its well-known background in ultrasonic cleaning, Omegasonics is available to offer its expertise in this area. Call us at 888-989-5560 or email us at omegasonics@omegasonics.com
