The restaurant industry is one of the ideal businesses to use an ultrasonic cleaner. When you think of all the intricate pieces of equipment used, an ultrasonic cleaner is almost a must. Additionally, factoring in how long it takes to clean all these parts by hand, your ultrasonic cleaner will wind up paying for itself by the end of your first year!
Just Makes Sense
I have spent my fair share of time working in kitchens, but good and bad. I honestly remember once walking out of a kitchen on my first day because it was so disgusting. I have also seen virtually immaculate kitchens where there would still be occasional buildup because of its location of the type of equipment that made it very difficult to clean.
In some cases, over time, some wares, such as coffee cups, can become stained. These are also issues that can be addressed with an ultrasonic cleaner.
The Kitchen
Some of the things that immediately come to mind when you think of kitchen utensils are those almost impossible-to-clean pots and pans. What takes dishwashers hours to clean can be cleaned in a matter of minutes in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Meat slicers, mixing tools, knives, pasta makers… all these items will look as good as new with one cycle in the cleaning tank of an ultrasonic cleaner.
Front of the House
The first thing I think of here are the silver and glass coffee pots. I know firsthand how difficult these items can be to remove coffee stains. I am also thinking about the soda machines and bar pourers. When you take these parts apart, you will often see buildup inside. The typical process is to use seltzer water and soap to soak the parts and hopefully loosen everything so they are easier to clean, but even then, you often must get into the tight spots with a Q-tip. Even then, you will probably not get everything.
Rather than having staff go through these items one at a time, they can be put into a basket together and all cleaned at the same time. In the time it took your staff to clean just one of these items, all of them can be cleaned. You could use the same process for sanitizing these items.
How Does Ultrasonic Cleaning Work?
An ultrasonic cleaner uses ultrasonic waves that create cavitation in the tank. This cavitation creates small bubbles that travel to the equipment placed in the tank. With them, obviously, is whatever cleaning solution or sanitizer you have in the tank. These microscopic bubbles then implode, not only cleaning the surface, but also every crack and crevice of the equipment. These bubbles find even the smallest of holes or surfaces you could never even think about getting into by hand cleaning.
