We have long stated that the auto mechanic industry and ultrasonic cleaners are a match made in heaven. Even if you are an amateur grease monkey who likes to tinker around under the hood, you know how difficult it can be to clean the dirt, debris, and grime off auto parts. Between soaking, scrubbing, and detailing, you can lose hours. Sadly, they are still not always cleaned thoroughly.
Using an ultrasonic cleaner will dramatically change that. What takes hours will literally only take minutes. Best of all, every surface and crevice of the part will be thoroughly cleaned.
How Do Ultrasonic Cleaners Work?
For those of you unfamiliar with the process of ultrasonic cleaners, the process is like anything else in the industry. Unlike spray washers, Omegasonics ultrasonic cleaners use ultrasonic waves to create cavitation in the tank. This cavitation creates microscopic bubbles that travel to every surface of the item placed into the tank for cleaning.
The tank is filled with a cleaning agent meant specifically for the job at hand. The bubbles carry that cleaning agent to the surfaces and crevices of the part, at which point they implode, ensuring every surface, crack, and cranny of the part inside the tank is cleaned. After a few minutes in the tank and a quick wash, you will often have a part that looks like it could go back on the showroom floor!
Make Your Operation More Efficient
For an auto mechanic, it is all about turnover. You want to be able to service your customers as quickly and efficiently as possible. The quicker you can get their car back to them, the happier they are. It also enables you to service more cars, improving your overall bottom line. Look at it this way… if you want to give yourself a raise, invest in an ultrasonic cleaner to make your time more effective.
So, what is the number one item you can benefit from having an ultrasonic cleaner? You are probably already thinking it… carburetor. The tiny valves, jets, and orifices that are all part of the carburetor make it one of the most challenging auto parts to clean. There is also the consideration of damaging the various parts of the carburetor when you clean it by hand. Think about how much time you take cleaning a carburetor… now how would you like to cut that down to only minutes?
Cylinder heads are also perfect for this cleaning method. The intake and exhaust ports can be the most difficult to clean. In most cases, the entire cleaning process will take about 40 minutes.
Brake cylinders may not have been on your list, but as the brakes wear, the amount of debris that can get caught in the pistons and cylinders is significant. These can be tedious to clean and you must make sure every spec of debris and dirt is removed.
Fuel injectors are surely on the list when you think of tedious and delicate auto parts that must be cleaned. Again, these parts can be easily damaged when cleaned by hand, so that alone is worth the investment of an ultrasonic cleaner.
There is one more part that we highly recommend being cleaned by an Omegasonics cleaner, so watch the video below with Frank to learn exactly what that final part is…
