Are you looking for a good business opportunity? How about changing that old vinyl into cold-hard-cash? Did you know that vinyl record sales have been on a sharp incline over the last two decades? People are longing for that original sound that only a record can produce. For traditionalists, those CDs are great, but what beats that little scratchy sound of real vinyl?
That being the case, vinyl shops are starting to pop up more and more around the country. Those old record albums you bought as a kid are now like gold to the right buyer.
Miriam Linna, president of the independent label Norton Records, told CNBC, “Millennials, a/k/a ‘kids these days’ are who we were back when we, or any generation, was spurred into a mania for records. For us, radio and records were the only way we could hear recorded music.
“Now with the internet and instant gratification, the younger record fans still love the feel and sound of a physical artifact. It’s highly personal.
She continued that music “on a vinyl comeback trail for 30 years. It hasn’t happened overnight at all. It’s small mom-n-pop labels that kept the pressing plants open and worked hard to keep the faith of the fans and artists.”
Perry of The Stereo Times agrees that vinyl is making a huge comeback, stating, “It’s a tangible form… It’s a little personal contact with the music that no other format can really match. It’s really special in that regard.”
If you happen to have a record store or are just an avid collector, to truly appreciate those records, they will likely have to be cleaned, as there is surely buildup on the records from having been in storage and being unused for so long.
Now, I get it… dropping a record into a cleaning tank does not sound like the smartest thing to do. However, in the case of ultrasonic cleaners, it is actually the ideal solution. Traditional cleaning methods we used to use for vinyl records do not always do the job. For instance, we have all dealt with dust getting caught deep into a groove when a simple swipe of the cleaning towel will not do the job. This is where ultrasonic cleaners really shine through.
The key to the process is the tiny bubbles created by the soundwaves in the tank. Unlike hand-cleaning, these bubbles are able to cover every surface and get deep into those tiny grooves without damaging the record. When the bubbles hit the surface of the album, they implode, ensuring the cleaning agent reaches into even the smallest of grooves to remove dirt and debris.
Now, records are obviously delicate, which is why our team of experts at Omegasonics will work with you to ensure you have the correct settings and cleaning agents to do the job properly. If we don’t have a stock machine to do the job, our team can design and make a custom-built tank just for you.
