Anyone with blinds in their home knows how challenging they can be to clean. This is especially true in the kitchen, where greasy buildup can happen in a very short period. Between the dust and the grease, they can become very disgusting, very quickly. This can create a nightmare cleaning scenario, as a regular degreaser and cloth usually do nothing more than smear the blinds, making them almost unusable.
These days, blinds can be quite expensive to replace, so homeowners are looking for a more cost-effective solution to fix the problem. Nice, heavy-duty window blinds cost about $60 per set, on average right now. Even cheap blinds cost about $30 a set. This is what we like to call a business opportunity. The market for a mobile window blinds company is there for the taking in most communities, so why not take advantage of it with what amounts to be a very small investment on your part.
Business Opportunity Knocks
The average home has, what… six to 10 sets of blinds, at least. You are talking about $300 to replace them all on the low end and more than $600 on the high end. This means that if you come up with a reasonable price to expertly clean them for, say, maybe 20 to 30 percent of the replacement cost, you have a viable business idea.
The selling point here is that once the blinds come out of an ultrasonic cleaner, they literally look new. More importantly, they are not damaged in any way, as can often happen during the “regular” cleaning process.
You also have the selling point of the service that regular cleaning extends the life of blinds. Point being, you can sell this service as a subscription service to potential customers, setting up a steady stream of income and no longer relying on new customers to keep the lights on and the bills paid.
You may also consider some rewards program that benefits the customer and your business. For instance, any existing customer that sets up a referral gets one cleaning free (as long as that customer signs a subscription contract). You can also offer a discount for longer contracts to attract more subscriptions. For instance, 10 percent off for quarterly cleaning, 15 percent off for every other month, and 25 percent off regular pricing with a monthly service. The idea here would be to set up your lowest discounted price for the minimum price you need to make your desired profit. That way, even when you discount, you still make, at least, your desired hourly rate. At the same time as meeting your needs, it offers a perceived value to the customer, so everyone wins.
