Using Ultrasonic Cleaners in the Tattoo Business

If you have your own tattoo business, you are already quite aware of how important cleanliness is to the industry and your shop’s success. This is important both for the safety of the customers and the aesthetics of your business. This is why you should be seriously considering using ultrasonic cleaners to keep your tattoo equipment and facings clean.

Keep It Clean

There is a saying in the restaurant industry that people eat with their eyes. Well, they shop with them too. Most people may not even realize it, but when they look around for a tattoo shop, they scan the room for cleanliness. It is an almost unconscious act, but you know those needles will be going into your arm. You are going to be sitting in that chair. Within seconds of walking into a shop, you have already made up your mind if you are going to talk to the artist or turn around and walk right back out.

As the shop owner, you know you have to keep your equipment clean for two purposes. First and foremost, there is the safety and health of your customers. Second, you want the equipment to perform optimally, and clean equipment always works best.

Shockingly, many tattoo shops today still rely on hand-cleaning their equipment. This is not only time-consuming and costly but also probably the least effective way to clean your equipment on numerous fronts. Whether you are staying late or coming in early to handle the cleaning, or possibly even paying someone to clean the equipment, it is an extra cost or time that either you or that equipment is not in use. Ultrasonic cleaners will clean your equipment in a mere fraction of the time that you spent hand-cleaning, and the equipment will be immaculate when it comes out of the tank.

How Does It Work?

The cleaning process itself is both simple and highly effective. A traditional spray washer relies on high-pressure water jets to clean items. Ultrasonic cleaners rely on ultrasonic waves that create miniscule bubbles that will carry the cleaning agent to every crack and crevice of your equipment. When the bubbles come into contact with the item, the bubbles burst, spreading the cleaning agent throughout.

What may take you hours to clean by hand will literally only take minutes when using an ultrasonic cleaner. More importantly, the equipment is cleaned right the first time, meaning no wasted time resoaking and washing until you are sure every surface has been properly cleaned.

Now, we are not ignorant to the fact that there is an investment when buying a new piece of equipment, but those costs are being offset by the time it usually takes to clean all of the equipment by hand. Not only that, but you can also literally have your equipment back in play in minutes rather than one and done. This could mean less of an investment in equipment or possibly adding another artist to your team, an ultrasonic cleaner will pay for itself rather quickly when you look at the extra revenue you are now capable of producing.

Let me put it this way… in most cases, by the time you have your client approve the tattoo and check them out, your equipment will have already been cleaned and ready to go for the next job. Can you say that about hand-cleaning or even a jet washer?
