What are your Cleaning Needs?
Multistage cleaners are meant to be used for precision cleaning. Industries or applications that see the most use of these units are medical, dental, pharmaceutical, microelectronics and aerospace applications. Other applications can definitely reap the benefits of multistage systems as well. If speed is an issue for you, a multistage cleaner is a must-have.
What is a Multistage Ultrasonic Cleaner?
A single stage cleaner consists of one tank. In order to go from a cleaning solution to a rinsing solution, the tank must be changed out. A multistage cleaner solves that problem by housing multiple tanks so parts can be moved from one tank to the other quickly and efficiently. The last stage is typically (but not necessarily) a drying stage. Omegasonics offers multistage units that have two, three or four stages. These include a combination of the following:
- Ultrasonic wash stage – standard washing station for doing the bulk of the work
- Heated rinse – this can be used as a pre-rinse before the wash stage in order to get parts prepared for washing
- Ultrasonic rinse – this stage is a post-wash rinse to make sure all cleaner residue is removed from the parts after the wash
- Hot Air Dryer – The drying stage
- Different Configurations
Omegasonics offers these stages in various configurations. Units are customizable. A two stage machine will typically include wash and one of the rinse stages. A three stage unit will add the dryer to the mix. The four stage unit includes all of the stages. You can choose the size of each of the tanks.
Adding in Automation
To automatically move the parts from one stage to the next, units can have automation built in. This means that no human supervision is needed from the time the parts are loaded into the cleaner until they come out of the process clean and ready to use.
Automation will add cost to the unit, so for a smaller scale operation automation may not be the best choice financially. But for larger operations, where a large volume of parts are being cleaned at any given time, automation may be the perfect solution.
Size and Portability
While multistage units are larger than their single stage counterparts, they are still portable. There are units that come on sturdy casters that allow them to be moved and positioned as needed. The largest units may not allow this flexibility, so make sure you don’t get the right sized unit if portability is a concern.
