Rust… what some people call “cancer” for metal. If left untreated, it will spread just like that horrible disease. When you see that little speck, panic starts to set in as you see money flushed right down the toilet. Now, before you start trashing tools or parts, give us a few minutes to show you how you can fix the issue and have a tool or part that looks as good as new.
It Can Be Fixed
If you catch rust early enough, it can be treated and removed before it starts to eat away at the equipment. One of the best ways we know to treat this problem and restore the equipment is by using an ultrasonic cleaner to remove the rust. What would take you hours, or even days, by hand, can be accomplished in less than 30 minutes.
How Does It Work?
Ultrasonic cleaners use a truly unique process, which is what makes it so effective. Ultrasonic waves go through the tank and create microscopic bubbles in the cleaning solution. These bubbles travel to the surface of whatever is in the tank and implode. Unlike most standard washers, however, these bubbles travel into every crack and crevice of the part, which makes it particularly effective in removing rust.
Do I Need to Prep?
We would recommend that you do. If you are removing rust, you should go over the item with a wire brush to remove any loose particles that are on the piece. Not only will this make the cleaning process more effective, but it can also help you preserve your cleaning solution. Once you have brushed the item, give it a quick rinse to ensure all loose particles are removed, then you can add the item to the tank and start the cycle.
In most cases, the entire cycle will be no more than 30 minutes.
